Perfect Climate Control for Your Derbyshire Home. Warm in Winter. Cool in Summer.

Ready to reduce your energy bills and carbon footprint? An air to air heat pump is one of the most efficient ways to heat and cool your home. At Derbyshire Renewables, we specialise in the professional installation and maintenance of high-quality heat pumps throughout Derbyshire.

Number 1 Air-to-Air Heat Pump Installer In Derbyshire

Why Choose an Air-to-Air Heat Pump?

  • Slash Your Energy Bills: These systems are incredibly efficient. For every 1kW of electricity you pay for, an air-to-air heat pump can generate up to 4kW of heat. That is 400% efficiency, compared to roughly 90% for a new gas boiler.
  • Instant Heating & Cooling: No more waiting for radiators to warm up. Air-to-air systems provide near-instant heat, filtering and circulating the air to eliminate cold spots and stuffiness.
  • 0% VAT on Installation: Under current UK government incentives, residential air-to-air heat pump installations are eligible for 0% VAT. You save 20% on the cost of the system and installation immediately.
  • Quiet and Reliable: Today’s models operate quietly and require minimal maintenance, providing reliable heating for years to come.

The Best Kept Secret in Home Heating

Most people search for “Air Conditioning” when they want to be cool, and “Central Heating” when they want to be warm.

An Air-to-Air Heat Pump does both.

It is the exact same technology used in modern air conditioning units. By simply reversing the cycle, it provides ultra-efficient heating during Derbyshire’s chilly winters and powerful cooling during those increasing summer heatwaves.

  • One System: No need for separate heaters and fans.
  • One Install: Quick, minimally invasive installation.
  • Year-Round Comfort: Set your perfect temperature, 365 days a year.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Technically, they are the same thing! Modern “air conditioning” units are actually heat pumps. They have a reversing valve that allows them to move heat into your home in winter and out of your home in summer. When you buy an air-to-air heat pump from us, you are getting a top-spec air conditioning system included.

It can be. Because air-to-air pumps are 300-400% efficient, they use far less energy to produce heat than a gas boiler. If you are heating specific rooms (like a living room, home office, or conservatory) rather than the whole house, the savings can be significant. It allows you to “zone” your heating, so you don’t pay to heat empty rooms.

In most cases, no. Installing an air-to-air heat pump is usually considered “Permitted Development” in the UK, provided the external unit meets certain size and position criteria (which we ensure). However, if you live in a Listed Building or a strictly controlled Conservation Area in the Peak District, we will help you check with the local authority.

Absolutely. Modern systems are designed to work efficiently even when outdoor temperatures drop to -15°C or lower. They extract low-grade heat from the outside air and compress it to warm your home, even in the middle of a Derbyshire winter.

As of 2026, the primary government grant (The Boiler Upgrade Scheme) has expanded its criteria. While previously limited to air-to-water systems, there are now specific allowances for air-to-air systems in certain circumstances (up to £2,500) BUT they are still working out the governance and regulations around this so the grant is not yet available to claim. However, the biggest immediate financial incentive is the 0% VAT on installation, which saves you 20% of the total cost instantly.

No. Modern units are “whisper quiet.” The indoor units typically run at around 19-25 decibels—which is quieter than a library. The outdoor units are also designed to be unobtrusive and neighbour-friendly.
